If you enjoyed WB shows like Gilmore Girls and Everwood then you will probably enjoy Hart of Dixie. It’s a cute show with a simple premise. Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) wants to be a world renowned heart surgeon just like her dad (fyi: turns out not to be her real dad) but because she can’t relate to her patients she loses a lucrativce fellowship. Luckily, a kindly old man (who turns out to be her real dad) in BlueBell, Alabama has left her his half of a private practice in his will. Zoe goes to BlueBell and starts mingling with the locals. Some of the southern folk are very sterotypical (southern bell Lemon Breeland in particular) and you can see the potential romances coming a mile away (Scott Porter as George Tucker and Wilson Bethel as Wade) but there is just something about the show that makes all that predictability all right. Bilson is charming as usual and just exudes warmth, which makes it hard to believe she is a cold hearted surgeon. But if you just accept that is what she is “supposed” to be it won’t be hard to just move on and enjoy the show. I would definately recommend checking out Hart of Dixie if you are yearning for an early WB era show!
